Rethinavelu to be Honoured

RathinaveluFive industries in Tamil Nadu have come together to jointly organise a function here on Sunday to honour S. Rethinavelu, the senior president of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for his 40 years of public service.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, chamber president N. Jegatheesan said that while the chamber members would be involved in organising the event, it was fully being sponsored by the five industries.

The event would feature a debate that would be adjudicated by the renowned orator Solomon Pappiah. Apart from contributing to the growth of trade and industry, he said that Mr. Rethinavelu had also worked for the social and infrastructural development of southern districts. Besides having pushed many important projects such as establishing the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court and international connectivity for Madurai, he had also established a school at Ellis Nagar and was involved in social activities through the Lions Club.

He was the president of TN Chamber from 1993 to 2008, after which he was elevated to the senior president. He was also the senior president of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), a national trade body working out of New Delhi.
Chamber past president V. Neethi Mohan and secretary J. Ram Mohan were also present.
